Visitors' Center

A visitor centre is planned on the grounds of the former colliery Ewald at the western base of the slag heap. The proposed location would be the former engine house north. This building is listed and offers an ideal environment for a visitor centre. Not only is the building itself ideal (after an appropriate refurbishment), but it is also well located directly at the ‘marketsquare’ of the Ewald ground and is supposed to be the crowd puller for the entire newly developed area. Furthermore, a assent to the Halde Hoheward and especially the horizon observatory is easily possible.
